Two Sundays ago I gave a talk on President Monson's talk he gave in last Conference, titled "Finding Joy in the Journey". I thought I would share some of it here...
I had been going through life in a not so happy manner, not truly happy with where I was in life. This caused me to look forward and wish and hope that I was in the next chapter.. In Junior High, I couldn't wait to be in High school.. it would soo be better than where I was.. then I couldn't wait to graduate..life has got to be way better than being is school.. Turns out... life was not as great as I thought it was.. Surprise surprise.... So I ended up feeling so depressed and down because nothing was going my way and I was never happy with where I was or what I had accomplished.. I had tried to get out of this rut several times.. but you can only go to so many concerts and try to cover up all of your depression before it comes out in an ugly rage.. Well mine didn't come out in an ugly rage.. but I did decide to try and turn this around and be happy. I prayed about a solution and no answer came for a long time..Then conference was on and I heard President Monson's talk about Finding Joy in the Journey... Wait.. that means I have to "find" it... it's not going to come land on my shoulder... He started out by saying...
"Let us relish life as we live it, find joy in the journey, and share our love with friends and family."
I knew this would be exactly what I needed to hear.
The whole talk is great and gives you a lot of insight to how you can help yourself find joy in the journey..You can read it here..
Since I've given my talk I have had several people come up to me and tell me how it's great that I realized this now and am living by it now.. and that is took them til they were much further in life to figure this out..
Also conference is this next weekend!! I am way excited to get more inspiration from our leaders!
