big city dreams

I have always had a dream of living in a loft in a city. Somewhere it would only be a little jaunt or bike ride to the places I needed.. like the market, work, gym and shopping.. I can see it now... a quaint place in beautiful Boston or a loft above a cute little cafe in Seattle.. mostly I dream of all the stoops like these ...
that I saw while I was in New York.

So on the drive home from work today.. I decided I would kinda live that dream lifestyle and walk to the grocery store that is just a half a mile away at the most.. I needed to go to the store anyways, so why not get in a little exercise too! So.. I took my canvas tote and headed out! On the way there I had to walk along a main road and I noticed a few things..

One) People forgot the rule that states pedestrians have the right-a-way... This became clear as not once, but twice I almost got ran down when trying to cross a street entrance..

Two) Riddle me this- Why is it that when a man sees a woman walking on the side of the road he feels he must nod his head.. like he is giving her, his sign of approval.. I don't get that at all. This happened to me 6 times walking in one direction.. I am glad they just all approved of me.. pshh!! Or whatever the "nod" means..

Finally, three) Fresh air is magical and does something for your whole being! Walking alone.. no ipod or distractions.. just your thoughts to keep you company..

P.S. I realized I giggle (out loud) a lot at some of my thoughts. Which is good cause laughing is good for you too! (Side note--If there was a way to record my thoughts it would most likely be the best reality show ever!)

Conclusion: I will be walking to the store more often because I love being happy!
